Presbyopia surgery continues to evolve, and with it the complexity of clinical decision-making in challenging cases. This interactive session showcases short surgical videos demonstrating critical “saves” in presbyopia-related surgery, including premium IOL complications, zonular weakness, post-refractive corneas, unexpected biometry outcomes, and intraoperative surprises or difficulties postoperative situations.
A faculty jury will comment on each case, highlighting key learning points, alternative strategies, and evidence-based takeaways. The audience will participate in live voting to select the “OSCAR for Best Save”.
This session is fully educational, focusing on surgical technique, clinical judgement, and complication management, with relevance across all IOL platforms and diagnostic systems.
Jury Composition: 6 experts, one moderator.
A balanced panel representing cataract, refractive, and complex case expertise. This structure ensures diversity in surgical philosophy and strengthens educational discussion.
What should your video be about?
We invite surgeons to submit short videos (maximum 6 minutes) demonstrating a “best save” in presbyopia or complex cataract surgery. Eligible cases include:
Case Types
- Simultaneous vision IOL complications
- Presbyopia surprises: decentration, tilt, refractive miss
- Post-LVC eyes (LASIK/PRK/RK) with unexpected outcomes
- Zonular weakness: PXF, trauma, long axial eye
- Iris and pupil challenges
- Capsular issues: PCR, wrinkled capsule, fibrosis
- Complex biometry situations and intraoperative refractive strategy changes
- Complex postoperative solutions
- Surgical creativity “in the moment”
Requirements
- Maximum 6 minutes; narrated or with captions

Technical Requirements
